The Faculty of English Philology was established on the basis of order No.1 of the rector of the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages on January 17, 1995.
In 2014, in the faculty opened the field of foreign language and literature (English language).
Currently, the faculty enrolls 1244 students in two directions.
At present time, 4 professors, 17 associate professors, 16 senior teachers and 57 teachers work at the faculty.
The faculty at the international level collaborates with Great Britain, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, Latvia, France, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, the British Council in Tashkent and the Uzbekistan Teachers of English Association (UzTEA). The faculty regularly improves the qualifications of professors and teachers in the republic and abroad.
“The Chair of Methodology and Practice of the English language was opened in 2005 in August according to the order of the rector of SamSIFL. The chair was leaded by ph.d. M.U.Usmonov during 2005 – 2006, by ph.d. B.B.Odilov during 2006-2011. In April 2001 Ashurov Shahobiddin Saidovich was stated as the head of the Chair and since then he has been working in this position.”
“ The Chair of Lexicology and Stylistics of the English language was founded in 2011 in August according to the order of the rector of SamSIFL. From 2011 to 2012 the chair was leaded by Ruzikulov F.Sh., from 2012 to 2013 by Ph.D. Ashurov Sh. S. and from 2013 to 2014 by Ph.D Shomurodova Sh. J. On September 3, 2014, Ph.D Amriddinova Nazira Shamsiddinovna has been appointed as the head of the chair. ”
“Department of English grammar and history: The team has been working hard to fulfill the high and honorable goals that have been entrusted to us. During their educational activities, in order to increase their professional skills the members of the department have been to many foreign countries, and share their experience and success not only among their own communities, but also their colleagues in collegesand academic lyceums.”
“The Chair of the English Language and Literature,formerly named as ‘The Chair of English Phonetics’, was founded in 2005 on the 25th of August at the base of the English faculty which mainly was specialized in teaching Practical and Theoretical English Phonetics for bachelor students.”
